Today marks the beginning of another academic year at Oregon State University. I’m ecstatic to have the students back on campus. This summer I spent time preparing to co-teach a B-Engaged course that we’ve entitled “Project Runway.” Our students textbooks are Getting from College to Career Rev Ed: Your Essential Guide to Succeeding in the Real World and Strengths Quest: Discover and Develop Your Strengths in Academics, Career, and Beyond, but I’ve enjoyed re-reading other Strengths books featured in the photo above to get a refresh on teaching Strengths.
One of my Strengths is Individualization which means that I like to focus on the unique qualities of each and every student that I meet with. The quote below pairs well with my goals for this academic year and hopefully other professionals in Education too.
“If we really love our students, we will ensure that each one knows how uniquely talented he or she is. We will see and nurture the potential in them. We will care deeply about the meanings and purposes of their lives and we will help them see the connections between their powerful talents and their callings and their futures.” -Strengths Quest: Discover and Develop Your Strengths in Academics, Career, and Beyond
